What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is use of thin needle(s) to stimulation of specific acupuncture point(s), it is along the skin of the body to corrects imbalances in the flow of qi (energy) through channels known as meridians.

Acupuncture points is mean as hole, opening, cavity, and/or hollow spot. The implication is a point of access or passageway to something deeper. Acupuncture point is a point at where the deeper energy (Qi) circulation can be accessed, some groups of points have similar functions or types of functions.

The Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist believe illness as a Yin and Yang imbalance caused by the blockages of qi.The insertion of needles on specific points of the body can help open-up the pathways and balance the flow of energy.

The scientific finding about the points is that, they are areas in the bodies that are able to reduce or increased electrical permeability, it is affected by needling of the point. In the Western scientific viewpoint, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system that affects the nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Acupuncture can help increase blood-flow, while triggering the body's own chemistry such as endorphins (the natural painkillers the body uses to reduce or eliminate pain).

The researcher found  61 tattoos on his bodies, many of the tattoos was similar to Chinese acupuncture points, Otzi was died approximately 3000 years before the Chinese oldest medicine book The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine was written. After X-Rays and other close examination, researcher found Otzi had worn joints, arthritis, gallstones, and many other health issues. Many of his tattoos spots are lie approximately over the acupuncture medians and those points we still use today for treating arthritis, digestive issues, gall bladder issue, and lower back pain.

Many other earliest civilization have similar techniques as acupuncture, for exeplem; the Eqyptians talked about vessels that resembled the 12 meridians in 1550 BC, it is recorded in the medical book called the Papyrus Ebera. The South African tribesman scratched part of their bodies to disease. The Arabs cauterized their ears with hot metal probes to treat illness. The Eskimos used sharp stones for simple acupuncture to treat disease. Brazilian cannibals shot tiny arrows with blow pipes to diseased parts of their bodies to cure disease.
